If you have a burning desire to build a long-lasting business then you have to understand that it’s in your own hands. To achieve this, you should no longer consider yourself a normal individual.

Yep, you are no longer like the rest of the world, you have now become part of the 1 percent that want to leave their footprints on the sands of time, just like you. Henceforth, you have to die to your old self and be reborn.

Join the cool group that I call the “Group of The 1 percent Footprint Addicts” I just made that up. But don’t worry, once you read the rest of this post, you’ll agree with me that the name is fit for them.

So what do the members of the Group of The 1 Percent Footprints Addicts Do?

They Wake Up Really Early

8–9 hours of sleep is a luxury for the members of this group. If you want to build a world-class business, you have to shorten the length of time that you sleep. 5–7 hours of sleep is enough for you because you need the rest of your time to make plans, create strategies and work hard.

They Focus On Their Health

I do 2 hours of exercise everyday ever since I joined this cool group. If you want to leave your footprints on the sands of time, you have to focus on your health. Eat well, the money you spend on your health is an investment, not a luxury. You cannot be a great entrepreneur if you do not have a good health.

They Understand The Power Of Entrepreneurship

Many people become wealthy by building their enterprise and running it properly than by any other wealth creation ways. Great entrepreneurs understand that. They know what risks are, and they take it. They are not afraid to fail.

7 Things That May Prevent You From Reaching World-Class Status

World-class begins where your comfort zone ends. Many of us are used to our comfort zone, we will rather remain mediocre than change our habits. But these habits are the ropes that pull us back.

1. When It Gets Difficult, You Quit

Quitters are never leaders, because on their way to leadership, they quit. Imagine if Thomas Edison had quit the 5th time, you and I wouldn’t have light, I mean Light!

I was the captain of Facebook during my younger days, you can read a post about it below.

Looking back now, I realized that if Mark Zuckerberg had quit his desire to build Facebook, I wouldn’t have had a foundation to build my online social life on. What if one of the greatest econonmist of all time, who posted theories on business cycles, Joseph Schumpeter had quit? Disaster!

2. When You Run Out Of Money, You Quit

One of the greatest challenges any business owner can ever face is running out of money. You need money because without positive cash flow, your business cannot survive. So once you hit the ground, you close the business and curse the day you heard the word “Entrepreneruship”

But there’s another problem that also causes many business owners to call it quits, it’s starting with too much money. Entrepreneurs who start with too little money end up doing better than those who start with too much money. When you have too much money, you squander it.

Excessive funding of business at the initial stage stunts the growth of the business because it reduces the spark of creativity, making you think that money will solve everything. And at the end of the day, you can’t move forward or backward and then you close shop.

3. You Run Out Of Ideas, and You Quit

You run out of ideas, not because you lack a creative spirit, but because you have failed to develop your creativity. You think that what got you there yesterday will get you here today.

You fail to invest in new models and approaches to your work. You gravitate to those things that you do everyday, relying on familiar tools, skills and routines. You fall into the competency trap.

You run out of ideas because you fail to look backward for insights and analyze your decisions, mistakes, strategies and actions. You sit ducks.

4. You Do Not Network Creatively

Are you a card shover? Do you go for networking events looking for who can help you and then shove your business cards down their throats? If that is you, you’re not a creative networker.

To creatively network is to look for and study the people who have creatively built their business to the top and learn from them. You do this by offering to help them solve a problem.

No one wants to mentor any individual who isn’t ready to sit up themselves. Infact, mentors look for prospects that have the potentials to succeed in their fields and then help them up. So if you approach networking with a “please help me” strategy, you’re going to be closing your doors soon.

5. You’re Looking For The Next Shiny Object

You can never become world class if all you care about is the next big thing in business, or the next cash generating business. Are you in it for the money? If you are, I’m sorry to say, you’ll never stop searching.

You run around, giving in to FOMO, looking for a fast buck and to take the shortest cut. This habit has never and can never produce world-class results. If you want to build a long-lasting business, you need to stay focused on your purpose, never turning to the left or to the right.

6. You Blame Others For Your Mistakes

So many times, we blame other people for the mistakes that we make, we point accusing fingers at others because it’s easy to blame than than to take responsibility for our own action, mistakes or failures.

Accountability is a necessary habit for an entrepreneur.

7. You Settle For Less

Sometimes, entrepreneurs settle for much lesser than they are worth, whether in the bid to impress your customer, not lose a sale, or because yo want to beat the competition. No matter the situation, if you settle for less than you’re worth, you’ll never climb the world-class ladder.

Many business owners still stick to mediocre ways and do not strive to be excellent in their dealings. This is largely due to complacency, lack of innovation and focusing on short term goals.

Conclusion

Never forget, world-class begins where your comfort zone ends. If you want to become a world-class entrepreneur, study the habits of those who have gone ahead of you and adopt their principles. With this, you will achieve in 20 months, what they achieved in 20 years. Join the cool group of the 1 percent footprint addicts.
